buy, they may find something on another website more to their liking and if they
do make a purchase you will receive a commission for the sales lead.
The other way to generate revenue through an affiliate program is for you
to offer your own product for inclusion on websites owned by other companies.
When visitors to their sites are pointed to your site and a purchase is made,
you in turn will pay them a commission. This arrangement works out great when
other companies are sending you traffic that you would never have received from
your own marketing efforts. Their remuneration is a sharing of the revenue. This
is a true win, win opportunity.
One other benefit of having other companies sell your product on their websites
is that they will be linking back to your site. From a search engine
optimization standpoint, these links back to your website will be seen as
one-way linking which has been thought to be one of the top reasons how search
engines determine ranking order for search results.
If you do decide to sell a product through an affiliate program you
should provide your affiliate partners with some resources, they can use to sell
your product. Resources can include advertising banners, html code, or graphics
to draw attention to the product. If you want some ideas of how others are
selling products, just visit their websites and see how their products are
promoted.
One word of caution, take your time researching which companies you would like
to be affiliated with, ensure that they have been in business for a few years.
That they offer products that you can believe in and would have normally
purchased for yourself.
